My Story

When I was a kid, I was obsessed with writing stories. From cases of missing cartoon characters to fantastic epics, I would spend all my time, creativity flowing, crafting new narratives.

Now, I still do that, but with copy and content (and a few years more wisdom).

My name is Sheena and I'm a Canadian from Winnipeg, Manitoba living in London in the United Kingdom. As a genealogist and storyteller, I've spent the better part of a decade, finding stories within photographs and censuses. Now, I find stories using your online presence, customer testimonials, and the most valuable resource: you.

I want to discover your story.

A few of my favourite projects...

blog3_edited_edited.jpg

A genealogy blog that highlights the life of ordinary people through research of primary sources including census records, marriage certificates and more. With longform stories sprinkled throughout, 'Ancestral Story' gives a comprehensive documented look into the world of the past. I love history and the research process!

Part of my love for research includes exploring online safety topics. This might include concepts like cryptocurrency or platforms like Roblox. I enjoy the process of delving into research and putting together a well-formulated piece that provides parents and professionals with advice that helps them better understand the online spaces their children engage with.

As a companion to the Ancestral Stories main blog, I set up a micro version on Instagram to highlight interesting stories and images that either supported a larger main post or stood alone. Posts were created with the intention to inform and entertain, with occasional questions aimed at engaging followers in discussion about genealogy and history.

Using my background as an educator, I create online lessons and supporting materials along with quiz-based learning and choose-your-own-adventure stories. The content helps teachers and parents educate children about online safety.
